The first legal periodical is launched in Denmark, a weekly case law overview, describing the most important rulings of the higher courts.
1924
Magnus Karnov publishes the first edition of collected laws with the ambition of making legal information more accessible. The name of the publication is ‘Hvermands lovsamling’ or ‘code of laws for every man’.
1948
The fourth edition of Magnus Karnov’s code of laws is published, and renamed Karnovs Lovsamling, a name that is still used today. The collection of laws is now annotated by experts for improved understanding.
2001
Karnov online is launched, allowing professionals in Denmark and Sweden to do legal research online. This is the beginning of a digital first strategy.
2012
Karnov Group acquires VJS, a Swedish continued legal education business.
Karnov Group is separated from Thomson Reuters, and acquired by GMT private equity.
2013
Karnov Group acquires Magnus Informatik from Wolters Kluwer, strengthening the presence in the accounting market in Denmark.
2015
Five Arrows Principal Investment (FAPI) acquires Karnov Group from GMT.
2016
Karnov Group acquires Notisum, and hereby moves into the compliance workflow market, building on the existing expertise in legal information solutions.
2017
Karnov Group invests in Legal Cross Border, the first truly international solution in the Karnov Group portfolio
This year, Karnov Group also acquires the Danish legal publisher and course provider, Forlaget Andersen.
2018
Karnov Group acquires Norstedts Juridik AB in Sweden, strengthening the value proposition by significantly increasing the number of experts and expanding the content offering.
Karnov also acquires 40 percent of the shares of the Danish legal tech start-up company BELLA Intelligence ApS, developing a new service for streamlining the processing of bankruptcy estates
2019
Karnov Group was listed on Nasdaq Stockholm under the ticker “KAR” and launched the new platform JUNO on the Swedish market. Further, Karnov Group invested in the legal tech startup ProcurementLink ApS
2020
Karnov Group invested in Ante ApS, a Danish technology provider specialised in search algorithms and broadened its offerings with the new vertical legal practice management solutions through new the company LEXNordics AB. Karnov Group also expanded geographically to Norway with the minority investment in Karnov Group Norway AS, who provide legal research services.
2021
Karnov Group acquired the Norwegian business DIBkunnskap AS, a market leading provider of digital workflow tools for tax and accounting. Further, Karnov Group made a technology bolt-on acquisition of Onlaw. Karnov Group also expanded geographically to France with the acquisition of EHS compliance provider Echoline SAS.
2022
Karnov Group becomes a true European player with the aquisition of Lamy Liaisons in France and Aranzadi LA LEY in Spain. This doubles the turnover of the company and increases the total number of employees with 1000.
