To secure an even stronger focus on the local Danish market, Karnov Group has appointed Niels Munk Hansen (48) as new CEO for the Danish operations, giving Group CEO Flemming Breinholt more possibilities to deliver on the growth strategy for Karnov Group. Niels Munk Hansen is currently running his own Business Development consultancy and has a solid business career, primarily from companies and assignments in Denmark and Germany.
Until 2015, Niels Munk Hansen was Vice President of the Danish state-owned railway company DSB, where he started as DSB’s Commercial Director for Germany and later was promoted to Director with reference to the Group CEO/CFO before he became Vice President, Commercial. From 2005 to 2009, he pursued a business career within the Danish DONG Energy Group (now: Ørsted A/S). He was recruited as Commercial Advisor, was promoted to Senior Business Developer and ended up as Head of DONG Energy Markets’ Business Development Department.
Niels Munk Hansen has studied law in Denmark and Germany and has a Master in Law (LL.M.), from University of Copenhagen, and he has been a member of both the Danish and the German Bar Associations. He also holds an MBA from INSEAD in France.
Niels Munk Hansen will succeed Flemming Breinholt who has been acting CEO for Karnov Denmark in addition to being CEO of the Karnov Group. Flemming Breinholt explains the recruitment and its timing: “Following the merger of Karnov Sweden with Norstedts Juridik and the listing of our company on Nasdaq last year, we now have the strength to grow our company further, both locally and abroad. Therefore, I need more time to focus on expanding our businesses and, as a result, we have decided to strengthen our company with a Danish CEO. I want to welcome Niels Munk Hansen to the Karnov Group. I am delighted that we have managed to find such a strong candidate.”
